University of Pittsburgh Faculty Development Fellowship

Our Mission

We develop Family Medicine educators to become master teachers, exemplary clinicians, collaborative researchers, and effective leaders.

Overview

The University of Pittsburgh & UPMC St Margaret Faculty Development Fellowship Program is a flexible, innovative fellowship committed to training excellent teaching Family Physicians. This program is nationally recognized for individualized, superior training.

Established in 1982, UPMC St Margaret & University of Pittsburgh Faculty Development Fellowship has graduated more fellows than any other full-time program.

Fellows gain clinical and teaching experiences from three different community hospital-based residency training sites. They benefit from access to the university’s rich resources for graduate education, research, grant development, and mentoring. Fellows may obtain a Master of Public Health, Master of Science in Medical Education or Master of Science in Clinical Research. Tuition is fully funded for traditional-track fellows.

Traditional-track fellow applicants must be board-certified graduates of an approved Family Medicine Residency Program or have comparable clinical experience and an interest in part-time or full-time teaching in Family Medicine. The fellowship offers a salary and benefits that are highly competitive with similar fellowship programs.

Faculty-track fellow applicants should have an interest in part-time or full-time teaching in Family Medicine. Please see Apply Page for application requirements.

"My directors worked with me, trained me, and transferred their experience to me wholeheartedly, so I could grow with confidence in the professional path I have chosen.  I would highly recommend the fellowship to any colleague who would like to excel in medical education."
