Winfred Frazier, MD

  • Medical Director, New Kensington Family Health Center; Associate Program Director, Family Medicine Residency Program; Director, Resident Scholarly Activity

Winfred Frazier was born and raised in the Houston area. After attending the University of Houston for undergrad and Baylor College of Medicine for medical school he ventured northward where he completed his family medicine residency in the Chicago North Side. He briefly worked at an FQHC in the Chicago South Side before working and traveling across the US as a locum tenens physician. After working for several years in Tacoma, Maui, and Sacramento, he missed the academic environment and came to UPMC St. Margaret to complete a faculty development fellowship, MPH at Pitt, and a post-doctoral fellowship. After three years in Pittsburgh, he returned to the Houston area to join the family medicine residency faculty at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). At UTMB, he was the Associate Program Director and Medical Director of the largest of the three residency clinics. He missed UPMC St. Margaret and Pittsburgh so much that he decided to return to become the Medical Director at UPMC St. Margaret New Kensington Family Health Center. He is excited to return to UPMC St. Margaret where he can continue his work in addiction medicine and residency education. He is married to a fellow family medicine physician who practices Gender Care and they have two small children and a naughty beagle dog.
